Being More - Linking with our community and the World!

We are immensely proud of our children and the things they do in school. But our children want to 'be more'! We are thrilled to receive emails all the time from proud parents and relatives who want to share how our children have displayed our school values at home and in the community...from baking cookies for the homeless, to buying food for local foodbanks to raising money for charity through fundraisers, to looking after elderly relatives.  And they want to do more! That's why we've given them opportunities to show how they can make a difference and to see the impact that they can have on the wider community, the UK and the world!

Supporting others - our school, class and year group charities!

Our children are very keen to raise money for wonderful causes and as well as fundraising events, they all regularly support charities as a class or a year group. These links are often forged due to special reasons or because of the topics that year group are covering during the year. The children support these with their own money and in return, get to see just what a difference their help has on those who need it most, through Twitter links and through visitors coming in to our school!

Our Reception classes support Guide Dogs and Hypo Hounds; our Y1s support The Marine Conservation Society; our Year 2s support The National Deaf Children's Society; Year 3 offer support to The British Red Cross; Year 4 support WaterAid UK; Year 5, The Woodland Trust; and Year 6, the Children's Mental Health Charity, Place2Be.

As a whole school, we also support the World Wildlife Fund by sponsoring an Amur Leopard. This commitment is represented by  'Larry the Leopard' in the infants and 'Happy' in the juniors - the award for the child who has shown such great responsibility and respect for others.

Urmston Manor Residential Home

We are extremely lucky to have such a close relationship to Urmston Manor Residential Home. Every week, one of our classes pay Martyn Davies, his staff and, most importantly, his residents a visit to share in some wonderful experiences. It has been incrfedibky beneficial and both parties have gained so much from the relationship and the time spent together.

The residents have been given a new lease of life and our children get yet another chance to show how kind and respectful they can be. Please follow @ManorUrmston, our class webpages or look at our twitter feed for updates on our children's visits.

It is also very exciting that the local authority's Specialist Commisioner is hoping to set up a pilot provisionally called 'Adopt-a-Home', based upon the relationship developed with Urmston Manor. Please click here to get a flavour of what goes on when we visit!
