Early Years and Foundation Stage.

In the EYFS at Urmston Primary School, our curriculum encompasses our whole school values of being resilient, responsible, respectful, kind, proud and happy. It prepares our children for further learning in KS1 by creating enthusiastic and independent learners with a firm foundation of skills, knowledge and vocabulary ready to build upon.

We have created a curriculum based upon exciting topics that ignite children’s interests, however, this document is not set in stone as with each new cohort of children, it will veer in different directions in order to address children’s current interests, curiosities and needs.

Our primary aim is to ensure our children feel safe and happy in a stimulating and challenging environment, where they love to learn and are confident to take on a challenge without fear of making a mistake.

We place great importance upon high quality child and adult interactions as these are key in supporting children’s development and identifying the next steps needed to take each child further along their learning journey.

We recognise that parents are their children’s first and foremost educators and would like you to know how and what your child is learning in school so that you can play a key role in supporting your child’s development. We have therefore provided links below to our curriculum, knowledge organisers and skills progression maps, as well as links to our Nursery and Reception booklets which give lots of suggestions and activities for you to try at home. Included here you will also see this year's meetings for Curriculum and Phonics!
